School Holidays and Masterchef

The first 2 weeks of July the kids were out of school for Winter holidays. I decided to let the kids plan out what they wanted to do. I came up with 5 categories and they were to choose an activity for each category. The categories were Goal, Fun, Work, Creative, and Learn. Of course the Fun category was the easiest and the Work took a bit more thinking! But, after a while, they came up with things for each category. Carson wanted to improve his running speed for the school carnival that was coming up, Avery wanted to make a clay pot she could decorate and paint, Davis wanted to read 5 books about dragons, and Braden was going to help clean the gutters with Dad.

We planned it all out and adjusted things here there, but for the most part were able to fit it all in and enjoy it! We hit the aquarium, of course the Reptile park (we can't seem to get enough of the Aussie wildlife), and saw Mr. Popper's Penguins. But, one of their most favorite things we did, was Braden's MasterChef night. Each child chose a recipe and did the shopping, preparation, and cooking. It turned out great and we all had full tummies by the end of the night!

Davis had the appetizer and chose to make sausage rolls...very Aussie!
Braden's South African main dish...Frickadel's (very random, but very good!)
Carson had a side dish and came up with a broccoli mash potatoes and cheese...about the only 2 vegetables he will eat, so very fitting he put them together.
Avery was so excited to have the dessert! At first she had planned a feast with cookies, sundaes, and hot chocolate...we had to reign her in with just the sundae's!
They were very yummy...even with the "real" cherry on top!

I wish I had taken more/better pictures of the whole day because it was really fun! I especially wished I had some photos at the grocery store! I turned them loose with their own shopping baskets and they came back with the funniest of things!
